Introduction
When we see that person with a well-configured shape or with fine muscles and athletic
body, we envy them. Apparently, one can be healthy but not physically fit. There is,
therefore, the need for people to cultivate a good eating habit or rather diet and a program of
fostering weight loss. The issue of losing weight and the diet that we eat are closely related.
Regular exercise with poor diet is just like pushing a stationary wall, sweats the whole time
but does not do any work. The article thus looks into the correlation between diet and weight
loss and how the use of both can lead to fitness and healthy life (Agatston, 2003).

First of all, it is good to understand what is meant when ‘weight loss' is mentioned. The
reduction of body fat, lean mass, total body mass or even body fluid for health, medical or
cosmetic value could be termed as weight loss. On the other hand, diet could refer to the
taking of a special course of selected food aimed at losing weight or attaining some medical
reasons. It is taking food that is regulated in a certain way so as to comprise all the required
aspects that lead to a healthy body or even avoiding the certain type of foods so as to
maintain fitness.
Body weight loss is calculated through the determination of the Body Mass Index (BMI)
which determines if one's weight is healthy for their body. Therefore, weight loss has to be
based on health matters too alongside other desired aspects such as good looks and building
of muscles (Agatston, 2003). The BMI helps us determine if we need to lose weight or not.
Safety weight of loss is also very important. Experts advise on taking small realistic steps and
targets that will not over-constrain one's body depending on the level of physical ability and
