Outline of Chickamuaga
This statement: Chickamauga is a short narrative that was written by Ambrose Bierce during the
1863 Civil War in America. The story is centered on an anti-war theme and also highlights the
evolution of humans in the battle. The central character that the author uses is a young child, who
he refers as a boy throughout the story.

The boy exhibits characters of a hero in his fantasy play by leading an army spectra. In
this fantasy that Bierce denotes, the child is transformed into a leader of mythical
dimensions. The author states, “The boy waved his cap for their inspiration and pointed
smilingly with his armament in the guiding light direction.”
In conclusion, Bierce’s literary work is worth admiration for the heroism qualities that he
demonstrates. By using the perspective of a child, he explains that even though a child might
have an honest character, that doesn’t deny one an opportunity to poses the qualities of a real
hero.
