The perimeter of the rectangle is 18 square cm. What are the length and width? Which equation models this problem

 8 • l = 18 – 8
      l(l – 8) = 18
      l + (8 + 2l) = 18
      2l + 2(l – 8) = 18

Let

Length = x

Width= x-8

Perimeter = 2 l + 2 W

18/2=l+w

9=l+w

9=x+x-8

9+8=2x

17=2x

X=17/2=8.5

Width = 8.5-8= 0.5

The answer

 2l + 2(l – 8) = 18
