The internet has become a crucial component of the twenty-first century, given that it
interconnects millions of people across diverse geographical regions. As a platform, the internet
has literary changed the manner in which people communicate and interact. Interestingly,
although most of the web users are glad for the platform, very few people know the legend that
invented the platform. Tim Berners-Lee (BL) is the wizard behind what is considered to be the
world’s most revolutionary invention especially given that the platform was established in the
twentieth century (Stanish et al. 54). Inarguably, Berners-Lee idea of creating a global network,
transformed the manner in which human beings live, transact, associate, communicate, and
network. An analysis on Tim Berners-Lee will reveal why the computer scientist made one of the
most revolutionary inventions of the twentieth century as well as explicate on the importance of
Berners-Lee invention.
Biography
Tim Berners-Lee is an outstanding and well-recognized Computer scientist, who was
born in London back in 1955. At the time of his birth, both of Tim’s parents; Mary Lee Woods,
and Conway Berners-Lee were working on the Mark I computer. BL’s passion for electronics
and math was nurtured by the guru’s parents who primarily worked as mathematicians for a

considerable duration of their lives. Growing up, Berners-Lee was raised together with other
three siblings and attended the Sheen Mount Primary school during his early years as a child
(Stanish et al. 25). Later on, Tim switched schools to the London’s independent Emanuel School,
where he completed his junior level education. During his early childhood, BL developed a
passion for electronics thanks to his keen eye and solid parenting support. The encouragement
provided by Tim’s immediate environment was critical to nurture the scientist's passion given
that the guru began fondling with his model railway kit at an early age.
Later on after completing his education at the London’s independent Emanuel School, TL
enrolled for higher studies at the Queens College of the University of Oxford and was
successfully accepted in 1973. During his period at the University, Berners-Lee pursued a course
in physics and later graduated with a first class honors degree in the year 1976 (Stanish et al. 47).
After completing his education, TL commenced working as an independent consultant for
various companies such as Plessey in Pole, where the wizard secured a contract as an engineer of
the telecommunications company. In the subsequent decade, BL desire to work as independent
consultant secured the guru a contact at CERN, where he later landed a permanent job. Although
Tim had secured contracts with other companies such as John Poole’s Image Computer Systems,
his real potential was realized at CERN when he began working on the World Wide Web project.
After fulfilling his long life dream invention, TL dropped his role at the corporation to pursued a
private career life where he founded the W3C at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
(MIT) (Stanish et al. 45).
When focusing on Tim’s personal life, few events defined his private space. BL met his
first wife by the name Jane while he was studying at the Oxford Univesity. Shortly after
graduation, he married Jane although later their marriage ended in a divorce. Tim’s second love

was Nancy an American software engineer working at CERN. Although Tim tied a note with
Nancy, their marriage ended after a couple of years. Tim together with Nancy gave birth to three
