The taxonomy system of Linnaeus has remained popular despite the discovery of new species because it was flexible enough to allow new species to be added. Using a system of traits, animals could be classed into different kingdoms, phyla, classes, groups, and species with other like species, or, entire new sections within phyla, classes, groups, and species could be added to encompass the discovery of new species.
