Loving What Is
In the book, Byron Katie addresses various aspects of understanding oneself; she referred
to this as The Work. She explains that before people truly Undertake The Work, they must agree
and believe that their happiness lies exclusively within them and not anyone else. In the section,
Staying in Your Own Business, she explains that much of our stress comes from within, and if we
want to find happiness, we should stop meddling in other people’s business or concerns and focus
on ourselves. People who associate their happiness and peace with other people struggle to resolve
the conflict between their thought and reality. According to Katie, we cannot argue with reality, it
is what it is, and we need to accept it to find peace and happiness.
She explains that almost everything that happens can be explained as mine, yours and
God’s business. Therefore the only way to be happy and achieve harmony is to focus on your
business only. God’s business is beyond our control; hence we need to surrender them and leave
