if <B and <C are base angles of an isosceles triangle. find the measure of <D the vertex angle

m<B = 5x+14 and m<C=3x+30

Dec 2nd, 2014

(5x + 14) = (3x + 30)

5x - 3x = 30 -14

2x = 16

x = 8

so m<B = 5(8) + 14 = 54

     m<C = 3(8) + 30 = 54

The measure of vertex angle <D= 180 - (54 + 54) = 180 - 108

<D = 180 - 108 = 72

<D = 72
