Counselling and psychotherapy are as old as the humans are, but these were realized
as a proper technique of curing the psychological disorders in the nineteenth century by the
Western therapists. In a continuation of these practices, for the last sixty years, psychotherapy
and counselling have been emerged as the most effective and operational intervention to
lessen the psychological and emotional discomforts, and behavioural disorders by allowing
the patients to hope for their improvement and feeling satisfied with their lives.
The psychotherapeutic services come with certain standards of ethics which have
become more important in the contemporary world for the good of the general public and for
the high values of the profession itself. This paper will discuss these ethical implications and
dilemmas involved in the counselling and psychotherapy that are faced by the experts of the
field.
Ethical aspect of the psychotherapy is multidimensional issue and are viewed as fivein-one solution to out together for better understand and practices of high ethical values in
this profession.
First of all, the professional counsellor or psychiatrist should possess the required
education, skills, expertise, experience and judgmental authority to decide that a specific set
of interventions is appropriate for the person who wants to attend the session. It is the most
