no man is an island. society community has responsibilities. include healthcare, basic human needs for food and above all education. its a reciprocal arrangement. one cant do without the other. each has a part to play. the individual must avail itself of the opportunities and consequences of not/heeding societal rules and needs too. look at www.bahai.org and we can see how complementary the roles are. education is uppermost for with it comes opportunities for the individual to succeed. when the indivi falters, society has to take necessary steps to rectify eg crime leads to punishment - more so to rehabilitate rather than retribution
