what is it called when a king shares his power with the people?

Dec 3rd, 2014

During the French Revolution there was a group called the Bourgeoisie which demanded that political and social power be equal to the economic power that was occurring. The First Estate was the clergy and the Second Estate was the nobility. The First and Second Estates were those who held the political and social powers of the time. Then eventually the Parliament decided to block taxes and that made the king have to share power with the Second Estate. I hope this helps a little, please let me know if you need any further details.
