 How did Calhoun (and South Carolina) justify and explain the theory of nullification? On what points did Webster (and Jackson) oppose this theory?

He said that it only existed at the will of the states, therefore if a state found that a federal law was unconstitutional the state would have the right to nullify the law within its borders Jackson opposed his theory because it was a states- right challenge, so he asked congress to enact legislation so he could use troops to enforce federal laws in the face of nullification. i'm not sure on webster, but i hope this answer clears things up for you a little bit!
