Describe your current or past organization's organizational structure.  Frame your response in a holistic way where you not only discuss the structure, but also address how this structure impacts projects and project managers (i.e. what authority does a pm have? How does the pm obtain resources?).  Address whether you think this structure is beneficial or whether another type would be better. The PMBOK® Guide discusses organizational structures. 

Let's bring strategic planning into the realm of projects and project management.  Discuss how strategic planning and the business case have relevance to projects or do they?  Consider this topic through the lens of a project manager and also consider how organizational strategies and business objective influence how projects are selected and managed.  Also look at how the level of support from upper management can impact a project, the project team, and resources.  Frame your response in a holistic way where you address all of these topics and questions collectively and cite at least one non-PMBOK Guide resource to support your position.

The organization that I am currently working in is a Private university. The structure is
functional structure. A functional composition of the organization is one of the common
organizational structures. In this formation, the organization divides the workers according to the
specializations or related set of roles or responsibilities. whereas the functional organizational
structures function well in constant environments where business methods are not as much of
prone to alteration or dynamism, the extent of bureaucracy makes it troublesome for
organizations to react to changes within the market speedily. The functional structure is most
excellent for the smaller firms or people who target one product or service. Not intended to alter
rapidly, the functional structure works fine in a very stable setting where the business methods
are less prone to change. Functional structures are the very common style of structural type and
have developed from the idea of high specialism; the goal of functional organization structure is
to place all the individual and informational resources essential for one action in one place. This
increases the performance by making the possible allocation of precious experience by seniors
with their juniors. The organization comprises of various departments like engineering,
management, computing, architecture, sciences, agriculture, law, physical education,
biotechnology, etc. All these departments are headed by deans, directors, head of the department,
and coordinators. The structure impacts all these heads and their departments. These heads have
authorities like the selection of a candidate for lecturer post, allocation of tasks to junior faculty,
