correct mole ratio for the following

water to sodium hydroxide in the reaction: Na + H2O ==> H2 + NaOH

Dec 4th, 2014

Notice that only H2O on the left side and NaOH on the right side of the equation contains O element. So in order for O to be equal amount between the both sides, the molar ratio between H2O and NaOH =1:1.

For the total equation to be balanced,

2Na+2H2O ==>H2+2NaOH
