The Affordable Act or Obamacare is a law that was passed by congress and signed into
law by President Obama on 23rd March 2010. According to the US department of Health and
Human Services (HHS), this law entailed comprehensive healthcare reforms that helped
consumers regain control of their healthcare and how their tax dollars were being spent. The
aims of the ACA was to make healthcare more affordable, accessible and of high quality (HHS,
2014). Obamacare was lauded for minding the welfare of all spheres of the American public
comprising of taxpayers, families, businesses and even the senior population. The adoption of the
ACA came with a myriad of benefits on the consumer such as the ability to compare different
health options online so they can choose the coverage that suits their families.
