Description

  1. Employee development is critical to an organization’s and an individual’s success. Throughout Chapter 8, we have reviewed information about personal development plans. We all have goals and objectives that we hope to accomplish, which will allow us to grow and develop. It is important that we create personal development plans to ensure that we are working towards achieving the goals set forth. For this assignment, you are required to create your own development plan, which involves a short-term plan (spanning 1-2 years) and a long-term plan (spanning 3-5 years). In both your short-term plan and long-term plan, provide two development objectives, details regarding how these objectives will be acquired, the timeframe associated with skill/competency acquisition, and the type of support that you need from a professional and personal standpoint. Consider, when developing these objectives, utilizing SMART goals. In total, your plan should incorporate four development objectives and associated details (e.g., two for the short-term plan and two for the long-term plan). Remember that the goals identified are your own. There is no right answer to the goals and objectives that you have created. Therefore, be creative in this assignment submission, while ensuring that you utilize the recommendations set forth in Chapter 8. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN:

Personal development plans are important to achieve your life goals but more importantly,
they provide the right path to follow for achieving those goals. For success in career and
achieving goals, a strategic plan is needed to work systematically and effectively. This plan
must be strategized by keeping all the personal and professional aspects in mind. Many times
in my life and career I had trouble achieving my goals within the desired time frame. It was
difficult for me to evaluate the flaws or problems for my setbacks. Now after 8 years of
completing my mechanical engineering I have a more clear view of the reasons for my
setbacks. Mostly my goals were not achieved within the time frame that I had set because I
did not plan everything thoroughly, my time frame was not realistic and my goals were not
attainable in that little duration of time. In this course, we have discussed information about
personal development plans and their importance. Personal development plans are important
for personal as well as professional growth. For my career development plan, I have come
across an approach called SMART Goals, it is an acronym that defines the important features
for planning a short-term or long-term objective that will ultimately help me in achieving my
life goals. This SMART Goal approach can be applied to personal development objectives as
well as career development objectives or goals. For my career development, I have some
short-term goals to achieve for increasing my chances of achieving my long-term goals
successfully, and for executing them I need a personal development plan. SMART Goals
approach provides a clear view of how to effectively set goals if one has a clear main
objective to achieve. This approach also provides knowledge about the necessary steps to
make an effective personal development plan. According to the SMART Goals approaches,
the first important step is to finalize an objective for yourself, what you want in your life.

Once a person has decided his objective, he can follow the important steps by SMART
Goals. SMART Goals approach makes it clear that a goal should be specific and it must be
belonging to one field so it is easier to follow the path to achieving it. Second important point
is that a goal must be measurable; it must have indications to assess progress and success or
failure while thriving for it. The third point is that it must be an attainable, reasonable and
achievable goal concerning the timeframe I decide for it. The fourth point suggests that a
goal should be relevant to my long-term goals and increase my chances for achieving my
ultimate goals. The fifth and last point is that it must be a time-based, realistic time limit to
prioritize the goal. Everyone's ultimate goal is to excel at their field of interest and make the
most of it. My first short-term objective is to start my Masters in Business Administration
(MBA) program and effectively complete and get an MBA degree in 2 years. For MBA, the
first thing I need is to take admission in a reputable business school as it would be a big plus
point to my resume. The requirements for getting admission in MBA include a Bachelor’s
degree from a state college, if want to elsewhere then a degree from a globally recognized
institute is compulsory. Besides this following are the major requirements:

Work experience minimum 2 or 3 years, depending on your responsibilities

Professional resume

Personal Statement

Professional recommendation letters minimum 2

Proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL; Test of English as a Foreign Language.
Minimum scores required is 550 – 600 and if computer-based then minimum score
required is 213 – 250)

GMAT; Graduate Management Admission Test. The required score is over 600 and it is
the most important test requirement for getting admission to MBA

Admission requirements for MBA program in European business school include:

3-4 years of full-time job experience (minimum 3 years)

4 years Bachelor’s degree

An admissions test or GRE or maybe GMAT according to business school requirement

International work experience or study experience

English language certificate by any course is a major plus

The range of score accepted for English tests are:

For TOEFL – IBT: paper-based: 577 – 587

IELTS – 6.0 or 6.5

Cambridge Advanced – 142 -210

Pearson Test – between 59 and 63

So for getting admission in MBA I will need to work on my English language skills
to increase my chances of getting accepted and I will need a professional and wellmaintained resume. For passing all these criteria I will need to prepare accordingly.
MBA will enhance my qualities required for working in the project management
sector of any organization or company or firm. It will...
