Description
- What tool did you select and why did you select it instead of the other options?
- What cultural insight did you learn based on the individual or group you selected? Include a brief description of the individual or group you engaged for this
assignment. - What challenges did you identify in facilitating the tool?
- Discuss how the participants responded to the tool regarding their participation and shared decision making. Consider how PLA tools are focused on building the
capacity of people versus projects or programs. - A Health in All Policies approach, which include economic and environmental
factors, is important in addressing the interconnectedness of health factors to
support holistic transformation. Discuss how this community engagement approach through such a tool is useful for assessing a Health in All Policies approach. In addition, consider how this approach is effective in reducing health
disparities by addressing economic and environmental issues through community
mobilization and assets. Review the website and introductory report on "Health
in All Policies," by the American Public Health Association (APHA), and "What
You Need to Know About Health in All Policies," by the World Health
Organization (WHO), located in the Topic Materials for additional insight.

Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) Tools
When working in communities, researchers need to be aware of the needs and
expectations of the people served. This means that members of the community should be
involved in the research that concerns them. To achieve this involvement and ensure that it is
done smoothly, participatory methods of research are recommended (De Brún et al., 2017).
Participatory learning and action (PLA) is one such method. It offers researchers a unique way of
gaining a deep understanding of a community or a certain aspect of a people. Its main aim is to
involve community members in analyzing their own issues rather than having outsiders solely do
the analysis. This way the findings can then be easily translated into actions (Napier & Simister,
2017). The holistic worldview analysis is a suitable PLA tool because it alleviates the
weaknesses found in other similar tools and gives the community members the power to make
decisions affecting their wellbeing and yield great efficiencies in the search for comprehensive
solutions to the problems affecting the.
Holistic Worldview Analysis and Justification for the Choice
Holistic worldview analysis offers the perfect tool to carry out the PLA process. It is used
to make inquiries about the perceptions of community members on diverse matters affecting
them, including their means of survival (Jayakaran, 2007). The tool has emerged as a solution to
the various challenges that characterize the development field including the establishment of
community-level development plans, creating community holistic perceptions, spiritual
baselines, and analyzing community survival strategies (Lausanne Movement, 2010). It solves
two major problems that researchers have had to deal with when using other participatory tools.
The first problem centers around the issue of analyzing collected information in order to employ
it as a planning tool and at the same time ensure that the community remains an active partner.

The second problem involves assembling the collected information of the research exercise in
the form of a collated and analyzed depiction of the survival strategy of the community
