what is the difference between the bubonic plague and the black death

A bubonic plague is a disease that usually starts with a flea and passed to small rodents and then passed to humans and causes a large amount of deaths very quickly. The Black Death was a time when a bubonic plague effected people in Europe. There are used interchangable though in many textbooks and articles.
