My 1964 lincoln contential retractable convertible trunk won't open

Huh, I hadn't heard of that as being an issue before. I wonder if one (or both) of the tensioners popped loose, or if they rusted and broke? If they just came out of position, that shouldn't be tough. If they broke, I'm assuming it's the mount(s) that broke, not the rods themselves.

I recommend getting an owner's manual to see how to remove the trunk -- it's not tough, but it is a bit tricky.

Thank you for the response. This is a retractable convertible not a key turn, sorry wasnt sure if you knew that.there r two gears on either side of the deck lid. The right side spins up but the left side spins and pops spins and pops it never releases from the deck lid.I'll check the manual again but it never stated on how to remove the trunk or open it if it won't open the normal way........
