Michael Frattaroli Wednesday To me, a simple way to define globalization means to go outside of our own country for resources, goods, knowledge, etc. I think there are many pros and cons to this. For one, I think it is important that we learn from one another, in this case, other countries. We can share knowledge, solutions to problems (take the pandemic as an example), techniques and ideas. I think this is a good thing. We can take what we get from other countries and build on it. On the other side, I think we could become dependent on others and not use our own resources. We are capable of so much on our own and I think we could end up dependent on other counties unnecessarily. Other countries may offer cheaper labor, cheaper products, which would impact our own economy. Like everything else, I think balance is important. I think globalization can be a positive, yet harmful if not done right. I believe Americans should come first so anything helpful to better the lives of Americans or America I support, but not at underlining cost of hurting our people (taking away jobs from Americans, etc). Limiting Globalization would force us to be creative in utilizing our own resources. It is a fine line. Unfortunately I think greed or financial motivations can result in harmful consequences to globalization. But areas like medicine, I think globalization would be beneficial. 5 Reply
