Achieving Religion Diversity and Freedom in Canada
Canada is one of the countries around the globe that has a vast range of religious groups
since it has a huge number of foreigners from diverse regions. However, the fact is that
Christianity is the largest religion in the country with around 67.3% followed by Islam with 3.2%
and Hinduism with 1.5%, among others. In this case, the huge question remains whether Canada
is a multicultural state since from its historical events Christianity has been established as part of
the government entities and symbols. It is therefore important to evaluate the concept of religious
acceptability of diverse religions in Canada’s public sphere. There are many issues that have
been experienced in the public sphere where minority religious groups in Canada have
complained about religion-based discrimination (Beaman, 2017). From a point of view of a
future political figure in the country it is critical to examine diverse incidents, challenges, and
opportunities that have existed and are likely to be experienced in the country in the stated area
The Canadian religion composition is ever-evolving and different issues surrounding the
issue are emerging everyday as minority religious groups are openly seeking religious freedom
and recognition. Currently, the number of Christians is decreasing and other religious groups are
increasing in double digits since more foreigners entering the country leading to increased

number of people who believe in no faith is also increasing (Beaman, 2017). As a future political
figure, it is critical to look at how the new religion diversity is developing to ensure that all
issues that may inhibit positive progress in terms of religious freedom are addressed. As stated,
for the last 150 years Canada has been a Christian country where different issues related to
religious discrimination and intolerance have been experienced in the past. The main goal of any
