runners. The blockade runners were completely built from the mouth of Rio Grande to the capes
of the Chesapeake. The blockade runners imported a great number of the guns and other
ordinances from Britain and which were needed and by the confederate. These chips were
designed specifically for speed in order to pass the blockade. The runners were privately owned
vessels and were operating often with an issued letter of marquee by the confederate state of
America and allowed them to seize and attack enemy vessels so that they could easily bring them
