The density of an aqueous solution of HCl that is 30.00 percent by weight is 1.1492. Calculate the molarity (M) of this solution. 

What is the molarity of HCl in a solution if it is prepared when 8.19 mL of 3.490 M HCl is mixed with 1.81 mL of water?

For 100g HCl solution, the mass of HCl=30g

30g HCl=30/36.5 mol HCl=0.822mol HCl

The volume of 100g HCl solution=100/1.1492=87.0 cm3=87x10-3 L

So the molarity of this solution=0.822/87x10-3=9.45 mol/L=9.45 M


In  8.19 mL of 3.490 M HCl, the molar of HCl=8.19x10-3 L x 3.490 mol/L=0.0286 mol

Assuming the volume of the solution and water is addable.

Total volume=8.19+1.81=10 ml

So the final molarity of HCl=0.0286/10x10-3=2.86 mol/L=2.86 M
