1) Provide an example of a challenge you experienced when learning about the concept of
electric potential, capacitors, a mathematical derivation or other concepts in the course so far,
and explain how you did to overcome it? (This question will be graded for completeness)
At first, I was confused with some of the terms that are being mentioned in this course because
some of them seem similar to each other. Some of these words are potential difference, electric
potentials, and capacitance, resistance. They sound identical, and hearing these terms for the first
time made me feel confused. I was also concerned with how the total capacitance in series is
solved in the same way we solve the total resistance in parallel and vice versa. To overcome
these challenges, I repeatedly read the lectures and watched YouTube videos regarding the
lesson.
2) Rank in order, from largest to smallest, the electric potentials 𝑉𝑎 to 𝑉𝑒 at points a to e in figure
below. Explain.
Hint: Draw the equipotential lines for the parallel plate capacitor. Equipotential lines match the shape of electrodes,
which in this case are lines.
• Think about how the potential compares for two points on the same line.
• Note, the potential closer to the region with positive charges is higher than the po...
