Unit Lesson Plan (modified w/instructions and a few supportive examples) Please do not use Life Cycle of the Butterfly in your lesson, because the Life Cycle of the Butterfly was already used in this example. Subject Area: (specify your area such as biology, music, math, etc…) Grade Level: (choose and target one grade level from K-12) Text (cite and link): (Choose a text which can be an online resource, e-book, article, or other which requires students to read. Choose a text that is based on the Subject Area you specified above and appropriate for the grade level you are targeting. Choose your text wisely! In the chart below, you will be identifying strategies and graphic organizers that are helpful for your classroom students to interact with the text and to learn its content. You need to be able to show you choose strategies and graphic organizers that align with the type of text you selected. Unit Learning Goals: Learning goals are based on text you selected above. Ask yourself, in this unit about the Cycle of the Butterfly, what will the students learn? Identify 2 “take-aways” from your lesson. For example, if the lesson is a biology lesson for 2nd graders, about the Cycle of the Butterfly, the 2 take-aways might be like the 2 listed below. Unit Learning Goals are general and reflect student understanding and learning gains from the entire Butterfly unit. These are not reading objectives. The reading objectives are targeted separately below in the chart. You will focus on 2 text specific reading objectives as indicated in the chart, they are Vocabulary and Comprehension. Unit Learning Goals for Butterfly Unit: 1. Students will explain the process of the life cycle of the butterfly. 2. Students will differentiate natural life cycle processes between insects.
