Recruitment and selection of the sales team is an essential aspect that should coincide
with the company’s overall business. It is common knowledge that there is world of difference
when it comes to personnel selection and personal relationships. Hiring of staff therefore requires
a comprehensive people’s strategy, a well-designed selection and recruiting program. During the
selection of the sales team, one of the most important step is to develop and define accurate job
descriptions (Coleman ,2007). The job descriptions should reflect a careful thought as to role the
sales team would fill inclusive of a skill set, personality attributes and any other relevant
experience that would distinct one applicant from another.
Upon development and definition of job description, the other step is to create a success
profile and post in ad mediums that would be reached by potential clients. This would be easy to
review the resumes received and identify the best candidates. I would then narrow the stack of
the resumes and screen the potential clients through personnel assessment to fit for the job
performance. Among the hundreds of personnel selection tests available, the most efficient tests I
would use are; cognitive ability tests, personality tests and general intelligence, g factor, tests.
