In the reaction: Zn + HCl ==> ZnCl2 + H2

390.3 g of Zn is reacted with excess hydrochloric acid to produce 8.93 g of hydrogen. What is the percent yield of the reaction?

please give the steps of the answer

1 mole Zn produces 1 mole hydrogen. Molar mass of Zn is 65.4 and H2 is 2.0

So 65.4 g of Zn produces 2 g of H2.

Therefore 390.3 g of Zn produces 390.3/65.4 x 2 = 11.93 g of H2

Yield = actual / theoretical amount = 8.93/ 11.93 = 0.748 which is 74.8%

Answer: yield 74.8%
