The internet has transformed every aspect of society. Our interactions with each other have
changed, and it has transformed "our understanding of authority by creating new positions of
power, flattening traditional hierarchies, and providing new platforms that give voice to the
voiceless" (Campbell & Teusnen, 59). More significantly is how the internet and primarily social
media has transformed religious institutions. The internet has reshaped religious authority, but it
has also created platforms to advance religious ideologies. The religious authorities were the first
to experiment on the internet by finding ways to “facilitate religious conversation and interactions
through email and BBS systems like Usenet” (Campbell & Teusnen, 60). The internet increased
the access of religious institutions to people giving platforms for religious debates. The World
Wide Web saw religious groups creating websites to increase their reach. The term e-vangelism
