1. Difference between speed and velocity.
Speed is the distance covered by an object per unit time while velocity is the distance covered by
an object per unit time in a particular direction. Speed is a scalar quantity while velocity s a
vector quantity.
2. How to calculate acceleration of an object in motion
Find the initial and the final velocity of the object or velocity of two points or a moving object.
Let’s say point A and point B. Find the time taken by the object from point A to point B.
Subtract Speed A from speed B and divide by the Time taken to give the acceleration.
3. Acceleration- This is the rate of change of velocity over time.
4. Example of constant acceleration
A car changing a constant value of velocity after every unit of time. Let’s say 10m/s every one
second.
5. Types of frictions
Dynamic and static friction. Dynamic friction is friction between moving surfaces while static
friction is friction between stationery objects.
Newton’s Law of Motion
Mass- It is a measure of how the object resist to acceleration when a net force s applied.
Mass is related to force in that Force is equal to Mass * Acceleration (F=Ma)
Example of simple harmonic motion – Simple pendulum
Conservation laws- Conservation of energy- It states that the total energy of an isolated system is
constant.
-Conservation of linear momentum- It states that the total angular momentum
before and after a change in momentum is constant.
-Conservation of angular momentum- This is the product of mass and velocity of
an object.
Calculate momentum (P)
P = Mv, where P s the three dimension momentum, V is the three dimension velocity and M is
the mass of the object.
Energy- Energy is the ability to do work

object.
where m is the mass of the object and V is the velocity of the
Potential energy- Potential energy is calculated using the formula mgh where m, is the mass of
the object, h is the height of the object and g is the gravitational acceleration.
Atomic number tells the chemical properties of an element and where the element is placed in
the periodic table.
Element- An element is a substance made of one type of atom.
Particles found in the nucleus of an atom are protons and neutrons.
Proton is positively charged (+1) and neutron has no charge.
A plasma is where gasses exists as electrons and atoms...
