The 21st century has brought a great revolution in the world in academic and professional
life. All the professions, including education, have been revolutionized. The digital age has become
dominant, and it is seen that computers have prevailed over the education system these days (Raja
and Nagasubramani 34). Earlier, there was little to no computer education in the schools and
colleges because it was not considered necessary for household or domestic use. Such reluctance
emanated from resistance to change and the perception that the digital age was nothing more than
a fleeting phase that would not last. However, the resilience of this new technology saw more
people and institutions become more receptive to incorporating it within the academic sphere.
Currently, computer education has been made essential by schools and colleges, and the trend is
spreading across the entire educational sector. This paper discusses the significance of computer
education within the school set up and the importance of government-backed initiatives in
enhancing computer literacy in schools.

The twenty-first century has seen the internet and technological devices become key and
recurrent themes within the academic setup. Such a trend indicates that technology has inherent
value that attracts such a positive reception from stakeholders in education. It is found that

technology learning and teaching are pretty crucial for the students, and they cannot survive in the
digital age if they do not have sufficient knowledge (Raja and Nagasubramani 34). The importance
of computer science as a subject cannot be denied in the competitive age. It has been seen that
computer science enhances the learning of students and makes them learn the new techniques and
tactics that are useful for them to operate the computer and different appliances.
