Description

Multiple-case case studies allow the researcher to use replication logic to evaluate the theoretical propositions and strengthen the findings of the studies. In this discussion, the example of a multiple-case study would be the culture of compliance to environmental regulations within investor-owned electrical utilities, local municipal electric utilities, and federal electrical utilities. The application of the same case study construct to the three distinct types of electrical utilities allows the researcher to show potential trends of similarity or differences. The researcher is then able to compare the trends and findings against the theoretical propositions to determine the validity of the study. The synthesizing of the data across three separate types of utilities allows the researcher to address outlier and rival explanations as a part of the research findings. As a consultant to the Kansas state leadership, discuss what this Multiple-Case Case Study brings to bear on the source selection of the electricity provider for the state. Specifically speak to the application of a couple of business solutions (i.e. does this study identify a single solution or could it be parlayed into a range of solutions, do the outcomes of this study bring a saleable solution, what’s the difference between this and a simple business case analysis or cost benefit analysis, etc.)

Introduction
The multiple case study analysis is a design where several instrumental cases are chosen
and selected to understand a particular case better. This method is essential as it provided in-depth
information concerning a particular topic from different points of view. Three types of electric
utilities exist in Kansas State, and all are governed by specific rules and regulations that ensure the
environment is protected (KLBB, 2019). The three types include investor-owned, municipal, and
cooperative-owned electricity utilities. The government does not always oversee the supply of
electricity in electricity by companies. The multiple case study method is best suited to analyze
the three different types of electric utilities and the regulations that govern them individually.
Consultant’s Assessment/Recommendations
Multiple case studies are mainly used when researching governance-related issues as the
method provides a more in-depth understanding of the scenario. On the other hand, such case
studies are considered by researchers as a representative of the whole topic, but it is; however timeconsuming to go through all the information provided. In Kansas State, the Kansas Corporation
Commission (KCC) is the regulatory body mandate...
