Now using distance formula, we get

d = √(- 2 - a)^2 + (b + 2)^2

d = √(2 + a)^2 + (b + 2)^2

d = √4 + a^2 + 4a + b^2 + 4 + 4b

d = √a^2 + b^2 + 4a + 4b + 8

d = √a^2 + b^2 + 4(a + b) + 8

Hence the distance is d = √a^2 + b^2 + 4(a + b) + 8.
