Description
Grandma Moses was known as a primitive artist or folk artist. Since she never received formal training as a visual artist, Grandma Moses did not use many of the methods and techniques known by the trained artists of her day. Even though artists of the Middle Ages (Medieval) were able to receive training, many important technical breakthroughs in visual art that artists of today understand, would not be discovered or used by artists until the Renaissance period.
