The international community has awoken to the reality of increasing dangers of climate
change in the recent past. The debate seeking to understand climate change and to minimize its
harmful effects is now rekindled. Numerous studies have been done on the impacts of climate
change on the environment but little is known about its impacts on the economy. While political
instability is considered the greatest risk to global economy, climate change presents a more
serious threat (Lockwood, 2015). Presently, research does not provide guidance on what or how
much countries can do to slow it down. Climate change is going to cripple the global economy if
punitive measures are not taken in time.
