A conflict is simply a clash or a disagreement between two or more parties or even sometimes
it occurs within oneself. Typically, a conflict always arises when individuals or groups develop
strong feelings towards an issue with another group or individual. It occurs like a tension arising
from needs that are compatible, whereby actions of one prevent the other from achieving his/her
desired goals.
Conflicts always arise in nearly all the job fields with an inclusion of health fields. They are
just inevitable. They are divided into; intergroup conflicts, individual conflicts and interpersonal
conflicts. This paper will elaborate on steps in resolving conflicts. It will use my personal
experience as the main case study to expound on the main topic of the paper.
Personally I did experience a conflict in one of the major hospitals in the country. I was doing
my clinical practice in that hospital. The conflict occurred between two senior nurses operating
in the labor ward. One of the nurses usually did her services during the night while the other one
did her services during the day. They happened to be performing the same roles in the ward. One
evening the nightshift nurse just erupted as she was taking over on her shift and started accusing
the other nurse. She complained on how the other nurse was disorganized, always leaving the
place in a big mess after her shift. She termed her as uneducated and less informed.
The other nurse was furious and emotional. She answered back in defense saying that at
daytime she had more duties to attend to as compared to the duties at night. She even claimed
that there was need for the hospital management to gi...
