Fragile X syndrome so far is viewed as the most common inherited disorder. It is not only
to a specific group of people but rather cuts across all borders, ethnicity and racial groups. It is
known to cause intellectual redundancy in both genders, with the ratio of males doubling that of
females. Further studies by various scholars reveal that the major cause of this syndrome is the
FMR1 gene alterations that causes CGG triplet, a DNA segment, to expand (Mazzocco, Quintero,
Murphy, & McCloskey, 2016). Under normal circumstances, the DNA segment is repeated
between four to forty times as opposed to a case of fragile X syndrome patients who experience
the CGG segment for over two hundred times.
This explained abnormal CGG segment expansion inactivates the functioning of the FMR1
