Description

So first it would be a (3 pages outline) like you did for the other essay and ,(Five pages essay).

Now, for Module III, you are going to write a similar essay. However, you are to pick 1-3 writers or public speakers with whom you DISAGREE. ( semester topic is the same reading real stories or fiction).

Why do you disagree with these people? Are their arguments faulty? (Or are yours?) What kinds of rhetorical strategies do they use? Do they depend on any "fallacies"? Is their rhetorical style effective given their audience? How would you counter their arguments and opinions?

This should be a Roman Numeral/Topic Sentence Outline of your Module III Essay. The Outline should be three (3) pages typed and observe the MLA guidelines that we discussed in Modules I and II.

MODULE III ESSAY

The Module III Essay will be five (5) pages long and observe the standard MLA guidelines that we discussed in Modules I and II. Also, because you will be doing research, you will need to include a Bibliography/Works Cited plus In-Text Citations to show your research sources.

Disagreeing with Rhetorical Strategies
Outline
Introduction
Definition of Rhetoric strategies and how different authors use them. The impact of
rhetoric strategies as used by public speakers and authors. How should authors use rhetorical
strategies? How to use rhetorical strategies to relay intended messages to audiences.
‘I have a dream speech’ by Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was an African-American activist that influenced the fight for
representation of Black people in America. His speech is considered one of the greatest in the
history of America. He is among the most influential African-Americans globally.
Why do I disagree with Martin Luther King Jr. Examples of circumstances that make me
disagree? It is discriminatory, inaccurate, and incites people towards civil disobedience. I am
identifying what is wrong with Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech. What ‘I have a dream’ speech
uses as rhetorical strategies. Anaphora, dramatization, metaphors, periphrasis, merging and selfmaking, epistemology, imagery, songs, and antithesis are rhetorical strategies. Drama is created
as a conflict that needs to be resolved. Description of the use of fallacy in his speech. An
argument of how I would counter his speech/ways to handle his expressions differently. I
advocate for the use of legal means and appropriate government agencies to solve issues of
national importance.

Rene Descartes’s Discourse on method and meditations on first philosophy
Descartes is a physician who writes about his reflections concerning the relationship
between the mind (thinking) and the physical human body. Discourse on method and meditations
on first philosophy by Rene Descartes gives different accounts on how the human body operates
separately from its sense.
Why do I not agree with Descartes's analogy? He argues that the mind operates
differently from the body. According to Descartes, the physical sense can be divided, yet the
physical body cannot be separated. Examples and citations from Rene Descartes’s Discourse on
Method and Meditation on first philosophy. It identifies faultiness with the author's view on the
relationship between the mind and the body. Descartes's argument does not use research,
theories, or studies from other scholars, making it faulty as research cannot support it. The
various rhetorical strategies like metaphors, rhetorical questions, and imagination. Examples of
rhetorical strategies used in the book. Depicting and describing the use of fallacy in the book.
Relevant examples of how fallacy is used in the book. An opinion of how to counter Descartes's
argument about the body and the mind. Examples from other authors about the mind and the
body.
