Introduction
Over the years, Saudi Arabia has faced many challenges that negatively affected the
environment. For instance, traffic inefficiency that has led to time wastage, fuel consumption and
increased air pollution. In the past five years, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, has
implemented several positive changes that have enhanced many sectors within the country. For
instance, the 2030 vision that aims to make Saudi Arabia the center of global investments.
Additionally, in the country, The Prince has made several efforts to adopt and promote
sustainability. Furthermore, the country has implemented several strategies that aims to enhance
the environmental issues that the country has faced in the past. The Line Project is one of the
main focus that has been designed to address the environmental issues. The project is expected to
create a digital and a sustainable city that connects the northwest side of the country to the Red
Sea coast located at the southwest. In this paper, I will discuss the main objectives of the project
in addition to providing a detailed sustainable marketing plan that the project should offer.
Moreover, I will discuss the expected challenges that the project might face during the
development phase.
Background Information on The Line Project
The line is an effort from Saudi Arabia to do something never achieved before, and it
comes at the right period of time when the earth really needs new thoughts and solutions that aim
to enhance environmental issues. It will be unlike past industrial revolution cities that the country
created where the main aim and focus was the development of cars, factories, and machines that
were beneficial to the economy of the country. However, those previous projects had a negative
impact on sustainability and the quality of the environment. Therefore, The Line Project will
provide a better future and quality of life for residents. Additionally, it will offer a comfortable
life in our environment that is naturally modified, free from pollution, and other factors that are
harmful to the environment. According to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, “The Line Project
in Saudi Arabia's NEOM, is an environmentally sustainable community that will recreate and
rejuvenate the vision of urban living. This is one of the approaches which focuses on the ecofriendly way of living.” (Discover, n.d). The Line, according to NEOM's official site, “is a new
path to urban development. It is represented by a 170 kilometers belt of fully reimagined urban
growth that involves numerous, hyper-connected neighborhoods and walkable and natural areas.
Simply stated, NEOM would be a home for citizens who have huge dreams and want to be a part
of developing a modern paradigm for a sustainable way of living.” (Neom, 2021). The project
aims to provide several services for residents to enhance their quality of life. For instance,
“replacing cars and streets with walkable distances for a healthy lifestyle. The longest journey

Sustainable Marketing Strategy
Sustainable marketing is the elevation of environmental and socially responsible
practices, products, and values. “The line project is composed to provide 95% of the natural
environment where green energy will be the main source, thus decreasing emission of CO2.”

free from contamination. Moreover, Recycling of waste materials and water will be emphasized

Saudi Arabia is on a mission to construct the city to settle its citizens in a human-friendly
environment. The country is in line to conserve and enhance the environment through the
project. Tourism has been on the rise in Saudi Arabia and is expected to increase as people
around the world want to experience a human-friendly and international capital. please discuss
the benefits that tourism will add to the country once the project is complete.
According to Hertog, “various investors from different parts of the world are likely to partner
with the country to enhance the project's development. Hence the project will not only settle
people and improve the environment but will also generate revenue. Therefore, there is a need
for crafting a sustainable marketing strategy that will enhance its efficiency.” (Hertog, 2019)
According to Alharthy, The Line Project is expected to be completed by 2030, starting from the
first quarter of 2021 after more than three years of planning. The project will live for many years
after its completion. Therefore, the country will have to engage in a complete strategy to ensure
the success of the project. All the basic details concerning the project have to be listed and

Expected Challenges
The project will depend highly on the opportunity cost to avoid wastage and only reach out to the
relevant customers. Since the idea is sustainable, the marketing strategy has to be specific. For
example, they have to tell the potential customers that the line project is eco-friendly and is
poised to change lives for the better.
Due to the limited competition that the project is facing, the country needs to look at the possible
risks that might rise along the way. According to Grab, green energy may be expensive to
produce compared to the fossil fuel that has been in existence for a long time. Therefore, there
must be a strategy to convince the public that green energy, even though expensive is better than
the one emitting CO2 gas to the environment. (Grab et al. ,2018). Although the government is
mainly shouldering the expenses of the project, all the stakeholders have to channel the needed
resources in time to make it effective. For instance, the project has to employ the latest and most
effective technology. According to Farag, “The marketing agency also has to understand to what
extent they will subject their plan to measurement throughout the line project. The metrics to
apply in the process have to be well defined to avert any inconsistency.” (Farag, 2019)
