The story that I chose to write an analysis on is “The Stubborn Hunter” the story’s set up
is that of the forest that has a lot of animals and rabbits are one of them, it portrays a time in the
past in which some people used to go to the forest to hunt for their food. The story uses “once
upon a time” to describe when the story took place. This setting is a backdrop to which the story
takes unfolds. The story seeks to show how people learn from their actions the hard way and how
important it is to seek and pay attention to the advice that other people give. Wrong actions
normally lead to dire consequences. The writer uses characterization and symbolism to bring out
the theme effectively
Plot Summary
The stubborn hunter is a short story about a man who loved to go hunting in the forest.
His main targets were rabbits because he liked to eat rabbit meat. His friends always warned him
to stop hunting animals that it was cruel but he did not want to listen to them and he always
defended himself by saying he knew what he was doing and he needed no advice. On one sunny
afternoon when he was getting ready to go hunting a saint happened to pass by. When the saint
saw the hunter holding a knife, a rope, spear and a net he could already guess that the man was
going to hunt. When he asked the hunter, the hunter responded by saying that he was going to the

forest to hunt for a rabbit come back to the house with it cut its throat, roast it up and eat it. The
saint got irritated by the hunter’s behavior. When the hunter noticed this, he asked the saint if he
was going to stop him from doing it but the saint said no that he just wanted to warn the hunter
that killing of innocent animals was wrong and a sin and that all sinners get punished at a point
in their life’s.
