What is the difference between empirical formula and moleclar formula, in my book it says ch4 is the same moleclar and empirical?
Empirical formula of
any compound is a formula with the lowest whole number ratio of elements
in a compound.
CH4 cannot be
divided by any number but 1 for each element - C and H.
Thus, C1H4 is an
empirical formula for this compound.
However, we don't
usually write C1Hx, thus, the final answer is: CH4
