Slide 1
Introduction
As we talk about training programs we must first of all talk about what training is and also look at
development because they go hand in hand.
Training
This is the action of teaching a person a skill or a behavior so that they may develop and gain certain
competencies.
Development
This is the progress of a person seen through the reaching and achieving of set goals and objectives and
moving from one step to another as planned.
Training programs
This is a planned outline of the activities that will be followed step by step in the development of a
person, a person is usually leading and this is why it is called training.

Training sites
Selecting
When selecting the venue for the training there are several things that you should know and consider:
Type of venue
The first thing that should be considered is if the venue is on or off site, this will help a lot in the
planning. The site is mostly preferred to be off site so as to avoid any distractions. If the site is off, then a
hotel is the most preferred location because of all that it has to offer in one place.
Location
The location is the next thing that should be considered when selecting a location and it should usually
be easily accessible and near and can be accessed by both foot and vehicle is preferable
Amenities
Another important consideration to make while choosing the venue are the amenities that the place is
able to offer, these should be like the washrooms, the tables and chairs, conference room, grounds and
the like.

Other considerations can be like looking at the atmosphere of the place, if it has Wi-Fi and the like.

Preparing
When preparing a training site there are several things you should first consider and they first of all
know:
When
When selecting and before even making a selection of the venue, you should be able to know when the
training will be: that is the date, the day and the time it will be. This will tell you if you really have
enough time to prepare and then you will be able to work around the time provided.
Where
This will entail knowing the preferable location of the training session and the specifics. Do they want it
to be indoors or not; will the place be reachable, what travel arrangements, if any should be made and
the like. you will then be able to prepare well for all the above by making necessary travel arrangements
and getting the right resources.
What
This will entail finding out what is expected; after knowing the kind of training that is expected, you will
know the resources necessary ...
