Question Description

This has happened twice.  The key fob will not unlock the doors.  After using the key to manually unlock the door and open it, the interior light does not come on.  The headlights, radio, etc. will not come on.  The engine will start but unable to shift the automatic transmission out of park.  Trying again maybe an hour later, everything works normally.  Any idea what might be causing this?

Hi,

This has happened on my E320 Mercedes also. I am not sure about how the Ford fob works, but most of them needs battery replacement after so many hours of usage. I am hoping that Ford and Mercedes FOB's are similar in unlocking everything with the key is how it is positioned. In Mercedes, I would normally turn the manual key all the way to the right for 1 second until all the windows are down. I can then start and operate the vehicle normally.

I honestly believe that you should consult Ford about this issue. It might be something to do with security programming on the car.

Good luck to you. Don't go any farther without consulting with the manufacturer.
