Sit the casualty down and make them feel comfortable. Do not
allow them to walk around. A half sitting position is often the best.
Allow the patient to have their own nitro-glycerin medications if they have.
Reassure the casualty. Remove any cause of stress or anxiety if possible.
If you suspect heart attack – check the casualty is not allergic
to aspirin, then allow them to chew the aspirin tablet slowly. Record
the time and strength of the tablet. Pass this information to the
paramedics or doctor.
If you suspect a heart attack or in case of angina, if the
angina pain is not relieved by nitro-glycerin and rest after 15 minutes
call the emergency ambulance at once.
Monitor the pulse and breathing. Be prepared to resuscitate till the ambulance arrives.
