Insert surname1 Professor’s name Student’s name Course title Date Insert surname2 U.S. history caricature analysis The different works are clearly discussed in respect to the guidelines provided to bring out a satisfactory understanding of the art in them. ‘Someone must back up’ The cartoon shows Uncle Sam riding on an amour mounted truck facing a dragon depicting china. The cartoon portrays the U.S. as the agent of progressive trade and civilization while china a barbaric force. The armed truck symbolizes the power of America’s strong as to china’s dragon which symbolizes the lack of a positive driving force. The message is clear that war is bad and suggests the war of progression instead of battle combat (Grant & Scott Geoffrey, 2014). The message put across is that even after war, nations can rise up and this is shown by the power shown in the picture. It shows a stronger America after the victory this makes me refocus on the current relationship between china and the U.S. which seems to have begun a long time ago. The cartoon also points out important aspects needed for development after war. It points out need for media and its roles (there are cameras), education and justice (as the two are pointed out on banners) ‘School begins’ Insert surname3 It shows Uncle Sam teaching in of mixed race students. It shows how the U.S. accepted the burden of the world as almost every race is represented. It is a message of impartiality and inclusiveness. The black American boy seems comfortable while the other boy working shows opportunities for all. The use of a white boy reading a book upside down symbolizes the vulnerability of all races under lever circumstances. However, the Chinese boy seems denied and this changes the perception everyone has on the story. The effect of the war in this picture is that even though it is over, there will still be superior communities against inferior ones. It is informative in showing the lessons being given to the world about government (Harper, Charles & Kevin Leicht, 2015). In now have a deeper understanding of this cartoon and about the impression it is intended to form. ‘America on the world Stage’ This work shows Uncle Sam watching at the middle as American soldiers leave the battleground and with missionaries arriving. The women and children on the ground symbolize the effects of war and difficulties that come with it. This was a time that America annexed the Philippines bringing to an end the Spanish-American war. This is a message of hope to the residents of the Philippines after the hard time of war and an assurance that there is hope after despair (Fallace, Thomas & Thomas Fallace, 2013). After the analysis, I now understand that there is more interesting facts about the picture than seen. There are a lot of messages being passed across.
