you think about Dr. Shapiro's belief in the importance of the emotional component when
dealing with conflict?
Emotion is a personal observation that is invariably associated with a specific degree of
physical sensation, physiology, action tendency, and thought. Negative emotions often seem to
be a roadblock in dialogue, whereas positive emotions can be an important commodity.
Emotions must not be inhibited or disregarded (Fisher and Shapiro, 2005). But instead of
addressing the emotion on its own, they recommend people to confront the topic of concerns to
be effective in handling conflicts. The longing to be acknowledged and appreciated genuinely is
ubiquitous. When there is a reciprocated sense of admiration, collaboration tends to increase.
Fisher and Shapiro identify major roadblocks to shared appreciation: struggling to comprehend
another's perspective, condemning another's validity, and failing to engage your significance
appropriately. To address these limitations, one must first pay attention to other people's words
