Description

Reputation Management For An Organization

  • We live in the golden age technology where massive amounts of information about anything is easily accessible to anyone with an internet connection - candidates and potential recruits for a company's roles are no exception
  • More than ever, a positive online presence will directly impact the recruiting process for employers
  • This means that the goal an employer is to strive for consistent, fair, and generally positive feedback and reviews on sites like Glassdoor and Indeed
    • This is an example of something companies would love to see:
    • good review 1
  • But often times, companies will get responses like the one below due to the nature of the internet (people have the ability to remain anonymous / they can say anything they want without repercussion / lots of disgruntled "keyboard warriors")
    • bad review 1
  • So as an employer what can you do to combat combat / prevent comments like this?
    • Work on building a strong culture
    • Go back to the basics - go beyond the "golden rule" (treat everyone how you would want to be treated) and embrace the "platinum rule" (treat everyone how they want to be treated)
    • LISTEN to your employees and make adjustments based on their feedback
    • R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
    • Encourage existing employees that are happy and love the workplace to post online to balance out the feedback
    • Reputation management through the online platforms
      • Actively responding to the comments so that others researching the company can see both sides to the story or at least the response to the comments
  • bad review response

Assignment: read through the review below. Pretend you are the employer and craft a response (see example above) to the person who posted the negative review. The response does not have to be overwhelmingly long or detailed, but it may be a good idea for you to at least touch on each of the negative points / issues that the review writer has mentioned.

MAG 5.0 Current Employee - Reverse Mortgage Loan Officer in Folsom, CA Recommends Positive Outlook Approves of CEO I have been working at American Advisors Group full-time for more than a year Pros Great Training-AAG Provides training from start to finish. I came into this company without being licensed and they educated me on becoming a loan officer, paid for my time during training AND paid for all licensing. Not too many companies take you through the licensing process, so this was a major plus for me. Great Pay-The income potential at AAG is very competitive and if you put in the work the possibilities are endless. I'm not just saying this, they provide 40-60 warm leads every month and give you all the tools to get each borrower through the process. I believe in the products that we sell and I am able to convey this over the phone to each borrower which makes the sales process as smooth as possible. Great People- I enjoy coming to work every day and AAG makes it comfortable for every sales personality. If you are a competitive individual AAG builds you up to be the best Loan Officer you can be and challenges your competitive attributes. If you are uncomfortable being around a sales team that is over competitive you are still able to flourish and not be out of place at work because the people you work around genuinely care about your success Cons The ramp-up time is a bit long if you aren't in it for the long haul. It normally takes about 5-6 months to ramp up to your full potential and pay scale. It can be tough if you haven't planned for this time period. However, once this ramp-up period is completed and you have a bunch of loans in your pipeline all the work will be worth the grind! 254 Overview Reviews 90 Jobs 140 Salaries 33 Interviews 73 Benefits 142 Photos Following.2k + Add a Review April 23, 2019 Helpful (5) Related Job Search AAG Loan Officer jobs Loan Officer salaries ($42k) "Worst Company I ever worked for in life" 1.0 * Former Employee - Management in Orange, CA Doesn't Recommend Negative Outlook Disapproves of CEO I worked at American Advisors Group full-time for less than a year Pros Flexible Hours, Building is okay, nice security guards Cons Benefits are soooo expensive, vacation time not up to date, management is horrible and pretends like the company does nothing wrong. Company offers happy hours and fun events for brand launches. Employees can also get product for free (many high quality products). Company is very lean and entrepreneurial. The people are the best part of the company- many I still keep in touch with. I have noticed some very talented employees receive promotions and G/R seems to be making an effort to improve turnover and rampant cultural problems by asking for employee feedback and responding with an open mind to Glassdoor reviews Cons Turnover is a major issue at the company-either toptalent leaves out of frustration or are quickly let go for "lack of performance" (being on the wrong side of company politics). I think at one point I remember seeing the statistic that half of G/Remployees have been with the company less than two years. I had seen at least 3 employees not even make it 3 months. Several areas do not have great work/life balance or flexibility. Colleagues had been asked to put in longer hours and sometimes even work on the weekends. There is a total lack of process and many departments keep to themselves. There is very little coaching or development and there are no formal performance evaluations at the company. There is also an evident fear culture that stems from the top of the organization downwards. It is not unusual for the CEO of the organization to wait and someone's desk and demand immediate answers to a question. If something is perceived as not going well everyone scrambles so the finger will not be pointed at them and they will not be reprimanded or fred. Many employees are stressed out and are always worried they will be tied into another crisis. At least two employees (from different departments) had confessed to me that the stress had led them to breakdown at the office Advice to Management Improve turnover by improving your culture. Implement longer term solutions (root cause analysis, process improvement) instead of the all the firefighting. Ask for feedback from employees on ways to improve work/life balance and workloads.
