have children.

The question of having or not having children is common among married couples.
Couples may have solid and compelling reasons for having or not having children (Blackstone &
Stewart, 2016). Those who decide to have children do so for various reasons. For example, they
want to create a stable family to gain respect and recognition in the community. Having children
is also associated with carrying the family name and the great values associated with siring
children and managing to raise them successfully (Blackstone & Stewart, 2016). Some married
couples love children and small babies. They enjoy having their company thus;, they decide to
consider having children. Human biology and the need to receive unconditional love is another
excellent reason why married people choose to have and raise children and give them a chance to
enjoy their existence. Other reasons for having children include but are not limited to providing
meaning to their life, creating a mold life, getting an opportunity to rectify the mistakes
committed by their parents and some form of social pressure from friends and families.
On the other hand, some parents deliberately decide not to have children due to various
prevailing factors (Blackstone & Stewart, 2016). The environmental impact due to the emission
of dangerous greenhouse gases has reduced the life span. Some parents are no longer interested
in having children as they consider it very risky. Challenging economic conditions have also
forced some parents to avoid having children. The stress placed on parents in raising children
scares them; thus, they decide to remain childless (Sharot & Sunstein, 2020). According to the

British Psychological Association, having children increases the chances of unhappiness in the
family. Some children are disturbing, and this puts the parents in a state of stress and sadness.
