Rasmussen College Growth and Development of Human Societies Discussion and Responses
intial post1.Some political thinkers and scholars have stated that people must have security in their daily lives. Without security, the world cannot be at peace. Your post should address the lessons that we have learned throughout this course, as well as your own individual perspective.Do you think human beings have security in our lives? Why or why not? If not, how do you think government leaders may provide security for the people?Do you feel you have hope for positive improvements throughout your life and your children’s life?Lastly, how will this course change or impact your life as you seek to live in a complex world of comparative politics?RESPOND TO EMILY>>>>>>>>below in one long paragraph. Ask her a questionHuman security can be defined as security that is international or national and gives primacy to indivduals and their complex social and economic interactions. With the human security being moved beyond the state does not mean that the security is being replaced but rather completing and building the security system. By having security is allows for structure, safety, possibility for economic enhancement. I do believe that human beings do have security in their lives, even though some indivduals may not approve or would like a change in the security system overall it is there to provide standards, protection and structure. I do feel that I have hope for my life and my child’s life for in the future. I feel this ways because positive improvement can always be made on a personal basis, economic basis, political basis and community basis. With indivduals realizing mistakes have been made and collaborating with each other and others if allowing for opportunities of improvement. This course has impacted by teaching me that no matter if you do not have control over all the situations if you put hard work an effort into the situation you can have success. Along, with giving me more insight on the political systems and how the political system works. Each country has their own beliefs, values, and ways of lives but countries are influenced by each other in certain ways and I have learned the most common way influence and duplication in process occurs in the economic realm and the work force.RESPOND TO EDUARDO BELOW............I think human beings do have security in their lives. I say this because societies, countries, have a structure, governmental and non-governmental, which provide security in human lives for the most part. For example, communities have law enforcement services that provide security to the lives of its members. There are also law enforcement services on the federal level which is provided by the federal government to further add security. Not all human beings enjoy security however, as less developed societies have a hard time providing that security in their lives.I also do feel I have hope for positive improvements throughout my life and my children’s life. Everyone experiences life in a different manner, and everyone makes mistakes which, if owning up to them, can offer the opportunity to make positive improvements. This is also true for the political world; they have the ability to make positive improvements in people’s lives. This course will impact my life by giving me chance to understand the political world and how it impacts societies and daily living.INITIAL POST 2Of the issues mentioned in your resources, which do you think is the most crucial facing probation and parole agencies? What changes can be made to address this issue? How do you build service quality approaches into your modification plan?Respond to ASHLEY belowFor probation and parole, I think that the most crucial issue is making sure that the mental status of officers is good. Probation and parole officers’ jobs carry many of the same risks that police officers do. This can lead to issues coping with the stress and trauma that they encounter. “If an officer deliberately avoids traumatic material, becomes desensitized or minimizes criminal behavior, this could subsequently impair the officer’s ability to receive and process information necessary to accurately assess criminogenic risk and needs” (Lewis, Lewis, & Garby, 2013. p. 80). This attempt to minimize the effect trauma has on themselves actually puts them at a higher risk, as well as possibly putting the public at risk.

Miami Dade College Reconstructing the Nation Discussion
The Civil War ended on April 9, 1865, and the original goal of the North to preserve the Union was accomplished. The task that lay before Lincoln and Congress was to reintegrate the rebellious Southern states into the Union. For many white southerners "Reconstruction was a vicious and destructive experience - a period when vindictive Northerners inflicted humiliation and revenge on a pro-state South."In order to prepare for this discussion forum:Review and identify the relevant sections of Chapters 17 and 18 that support your discussion.Review and identify relevant information on the linked PBS American Experience site, Reconstruction The Second Civil WarWhite Men UniteState by State: Reconstruction timelineThis link will direct you to the full transcript of the Wade-Davis Bill. What does it suggest about the prevailing Reconstruction sentiments in Congress? Read the section in Chapter 17 which discusses the Black Codes, and the linked site on the Black Codes. Read the linked document, a selection from The Ills of the South, written by Charles H. Okten, a Mississippi Baptist preacher, and schoolteacher, in which he describes conditions for Black Americans under the sharecropping and crop-lien system. After you have completed your readings, post your response to ONE of the following questions: Were the Black Codes another form of slavery? Based on Okten's statements, discuss how the sharecropping/crop lien system created a vicious cycle. Was this system simply another version of slavery? Why or why not. Consider the following statement: "The persistence of racism in both the North and the South lay at the heart of Reconstruction's failure." Agree or disagree, and explain your position.
