Description

The scientific method allows us to pose questions, examine questions, and analyze results. Through observation and research we begin to understand the world around us. Consider research you have read about or been a part of and analyze the following in one page:

  • Was the Scientific method followed? How?
  • What pieces were or were not part of it? (Randomization, study type, placebos, etc.)

For the second part, present a research project you would like to propose in approximately one page.

  • How can it help us learn about basic principles of behavior?
  • How can you use the scientific method to find and address possible problems in your research design?

Scientific Methods
It is first important to identify the six main steps of the scientific method before applying
them to a specific piece of research. Scientific methods are set at making hypotheses and
carrying out research to derive logical predictions from the conjectures. Usually, this is preceded
by carrying out experiments as well as empirical observations based on these statements. In the
scientific methods, the hypotheses drawn depend on prior information on the topic, intending to
construe the case of study and seek answers to the questions regarding it. In this aim, the
scientific method (standardized approach to making observations, incepting theories, and
interpreting results) is applied to describe the measures and behaviors. The last step of the
scientific method occurs after analyzing data and drawing a conclusion, which is reporting the
results and stating if the initial hypothesis was correct or not.
The research piece I have chosen to apply the scientific method to is a recent survey that
looked to construe the eating habits among teens by employing a longitudinal research survey
method. This purpose shows that the researchers adhered to the first two ste...
