Beth and Allen can bake 12 cakes in 9 hours.  If each cake sells for $7.99, how much money can they make in 15 hours if they sell all the cakes they bake?

Jan 6th, 2015

In 9 hours, they can sell 12 cakes, which means that 12 cakes/9 hours= 4 cakes/3 hours (1.3333 cakes per hour.)

So, to get to 15 hours, using our proportion, we must multiply by 5.  Meaning they make 20 cakes/15 hours.

Now, since each cake costs $7.99, and we made 20, we simply multiply 7.99*20=$159.80 dollars.

Hope this helped, if you have more questions feel free to contact me :)
