Between vickers test and brunell hardness, which is more accurate? explain

Jan 8th, 2015

Out of the two tests I believe the most accurate is the Vickers method.  The Vickers Method uses a square shaped with a penetrating tip in one corner.  This striker also is more durable when compared to Brinell's rounded model due to the shape and design.  The Vickers striker will not deform over a period of time.   When making a mark, the dark on light metal square impression left behind by the Vickers is also more easily read than that of the Brinell model. This can allow for consistent readings and measures of hardness.  It is also important to mention that the Vickers hardness scale was designed to test other materials the Brinell test was unable to in 1924.
